Engravings
Although very much a secondary activity, this became a source of great enjoyment.
Very early on I found stipple engraving too laborious and resorted to diamond dentists drills which could dance across the glass to give a variety of interesting textures.
For more accurate work such as lettering and heraldry a vibrating steel point came into play, (a beastly tool which had to be tamed to be useful).
Both Lawrence Whistler and at the opposite end of the scale, John Hutton, encouraged me in my work in which the influence of both is fairly evident.
